MULLAGHBRACK V WHITECROSS
Mullaghbrack minors played their first match of the season when
they met Whitecross at home in the first round of the championship
on 24/5/07.
Kevina McNamee opened the scoring when she directed the ball low
and hard into the Whitecross net. The visitors replied with a point.
Mullaghbrack dominated play in all positions with Shauna Gallogly
scoring a first half hat-trick and converting a free. Toni Morgan
always had the beating of her opponent and scored three points to
leave Mullaghbrack with a well deserved lead of 4:4 to 0:3.
The second half continued as the first with Shauna Gallogly
enforcing her dominance on the Whitecross defence netting four
times. Leanne Murray was quick to react when the Whitecross keeper
spilled the ball and Leanne sent it to the back of the net. Shauna
and Toni added points to leave the final result in no doubt 9:8 to
0:4.
Captain Helen Corvan led by example turning defence into attack,
ably assisted by Grainne Lee, Natasha McNamee, Faye Rice, Aoife
McConville and Ciara Gallogly ensuring goal keeper Saoirse Farrell
was well protected. Kathryn and Louise Rice worked tirelessly at
midfield, dominating possession and setting up attacks for Leanne
Murray, Toni Morgan, Kevina McNamee and Shauna Gallogly who all
recorded their names on the score sheet. Subs Eimear and Ashleen
Nugent, Orlagh O’Hanlon and Emma Fields all made useful
contributions when introduced.
